HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOG'S NECK:

If you are wondering what size collar to order for your pet please use the following methods.

The easiest method to determine your dog's neck size is to find one of your dog's old collars that fits perfectly (not too snug but tight enough not to slip over their ears). Measure the collar from end to end (including the black buckle!!). This is the exact size of your dog's neck. See illustration below:

Size Guide

METHOD 1 : TAKE YOUR DOG'S EXISTING COLLAR MEASUREMENT

1) Remove the collar your dog is currently wearing (make sure it is adjusted to the proper size before measuring)

Side release buckle collars (also known as clip/snap buckle) - lay the collar flat and measure the collar end to end INCLUDING THE BUCKLE! Make sure you include both buckle ends as illustated in the image above in this number.

Martingale collars - measure the entire circumference of collar when the "loop" is releaxed. In other words, include the loop portion too.

 2) Give this number to Pikoda. It should already have the "wiggle" room included in this measurement so there's no need to add more.

METHOD 2 : USE A SOFT TAPE MEASURE and following these steps:

1) Measure snug on your dog's neck where the collar normally sits. This is the snug measurement.

2) Next, add your wiggle room. For toy and small breeds add 1-2 inches and for medium/large breeds add 2-3 inches.  You want enough room not to choke the dog but tight enough to fit properly. A good rule of thumb is you should be able to put 1 finger in between you dog's neck and the tape measure for toy and small breeds and 2 fingers in between your dog's neck and tape measure for medium and large breeds.

 3) Add your dog's snug measurement plus the "wiggle room" to get you dog's total neck size. This number is the measurement you would tell Pikoda.
